Primary Care Genetics Reference Table - Call for Expression of Interest

  • Ontario Health’s Provincial Genetics Program (PGP) has been tasked with ensuring the provision of comprehensive, coordinated and evidence-based genetic services for Ontarians.  To fulfill this purpose, the PGP has assembled Genetics Expert Groups for a number of high impact areas. 

  • Ontario Health is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for voluntary membership on a Primary Care Genetics Reference Table, whose role will be to review recommendations produced by the Expert Groups and to advise on strategies to support the integration of high-quality genetic services with primary care. SCOPE CME on Wounds & Limb Preservation - May 16th, 2024

  • Join us for a SCOPE CME on Wounds & limb preservation with Dr. Andrew Dueck, Dr. Ahmed Kayssi and Dr. Karim Ravji on Thursday, May 16th, 6.00PM. 

  • This program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 1 Mainpro+credit.

Ocean eReferral Updates

The following Scarborough Health Network clinics are actively accepting referrals via Ocean eReferral:

  • General Internal Medicine Clinics located at both Centenary and Birchmount sites provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for patients needing short-term care, and consultation for patients with acute medical issues or multiple complex medical problems.

  • Child and Adolescent Outpatient Mental Health’s Slaight Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a voluntary treatment program that provides evidence-based therapy to youth between ages of 14-24 experiencing difficulties managing their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. 

MGH continues to accept referrals via eReferral across all specialties and departments, including for their Internal Medicine Medical Assessment Clinic and for their Child and Youth Mental Health Clinic.

Family Physician monthly Balint group

  • For practicing family physicians: join a monthly balint group, moderated by Dr. Nermine Gorguy, MD, CCFP, FCFP,  to explore challenging Dr.-Pt. interpersonal interactions in a safe, collegial, and confidential atmosphere. 

  • The group will meet every Third Monday of the month from 4-5pm EST via zoom healthcare. This group is free to attend and will meet for 11 months. This is a learning group, rather than psychotherapy, and time in the group can be claimed for non-certified credits.

OHT Acceleration Updates

Integrated Care Pathways Update: A successful clinical leads meeting was held on Mar 28th to plan the integrated care pathways work.

  • Furthermore, working group meetings for disease specific pathways were organized for diabetes foot health(DFH) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on April 2nd and April 5th respectively and an upcoming working group meeting on congestive heart failure will follow.  

  • Evidence based research was utilized to create ideal future state integrated care pathways. As next steps, the future state pathways will be validated at the upcoming clinical leads meeting. 

  • Watch this space to receive updates about the work done and the different initiatives undertaken by our OHT (East Toronto Health Partners).
